Awesome Hank
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few years, there is no doubt you have heard about the tv show called How I Met Your Mother. Time and time again, How I Met Your Mother has been compared to Friends. So, what is the final word? Where do people really stand on the controversy of How I Met Your Mother Vs. Friends?
When reading and hearing about what people have to say about these shows, it doesn’t take very long to come to the conclusion that How I Met Your Mother is a worthy contender to the comedy powerhouse that was Friends. That is an amazing idea considering each member of the cast on Friends made more than $1 million per episode. Here are a few of the things that have been said and written about the topic…
- The general opinion is that How I Met Your Mother actor Niel Patrick Harris out performs any of the Friends cast members.
- Many people looking back at the show Friends, aren’t very impressed. Granted, expectations have come along way with television shows and movies, however, this shift in what we want to be entertained by has set the stage for How I Met Your Mother.
- How I Met Your Mother relates closely to the world as it is today. Friends, though very funny in it’s own right and day, never really connected on a deeper level with it’s audience.
- Many previous loyal followers of Friends now say that they prefer How I Met Your Mother.
- How I Met Your Mother has likely gathered the following it has due to the opinion that the writing is wittier than in Friends.
- Both shows are based in NYC and are created around 20-something friends. This underlying connection may be the reason that so many people have been able to connect with How I Met Your Mother.
- The typical viewing age for both shows is the same while the underlying concept for both shows is also the same. How I Met Your Mother has thus been able to feed off the the cult following that Friends enjoyed.
To summarize, the general opinion is that How I Met Your Mother is superior to Friends. The improved writing, better story line, Niel Patrick Harris, and it’s ability to connect even more with the 20 something crowd being the basis for its success. Still, as Friends was one of the most successful television sitcoms in history, it should still be respected.
