2010 World cup is being hosted first time in African soil and many bookmakers have Argentine, Spain, England and Brazil as favourites. I definitely see Brazil and Spain being the favourite but I question the other selections of the bookies. The pitches in South Africa seem to be quick so it will suit passing teams such as Brazil, Argentina and Spain other than long ball teams such as Italy and England. As soon as you play long ball you can see that the ball is skids through and there is no way anyone can catch it.
England do have a passing game but I am not sure why they don’t play their normal game when they start playing. England struggle to keep the ball and I am sure they will struggle even against the smaller teams this tournament and if they scored first they go in defensive mode. After that they just look for long ball and expect someone to hold it. This is not going to work in these pitches in South Africa.
Argentine do not have the similar type of team from 1986 but they are still a very strong side. But Lionel Messi the genius in their side so anything is possible. In the first game against Nigeria he was brilliant shame he didn’t score a goal because the Keeper of Nigeria made some brilliant saves. If Argentina can put a team around him like they did in 1986 when Maradona was the main man, they were absolutely brilliant. Who know what can happen?
I am a professional online poker player and for the World cup I have given playing poker till the tournament lasts and back England. I have won few Full tilt poker and PKR poker tournaments so I am an addict when it comes to online poker but I shall be giving it up for a month till the World cup finals.

In the recent twenty20 cricket series of Australian versus Pakistan, held in England, Pakistan beat Australia 2-0. Even though Pakistan won the tournament 2-0 there had been an interruption in the 2nd international match in Edgbaston. Bottles and plastic bottle openers were thrown at one Australian player fielding in the boundary. This is a joke from these fans to be honest; I bet if they had kitchen accessories or tableware in their hands, they might have thrown that too which could have caused some serious accident. What were they thinking? May be they didn’t realise they team were winning.
New talents are now coming through to the Pakistan national team one of whom is Umar Akmal who is having a great season so far. The boy is all class. With his Kamran Akmal already making a name for himself at the big stage he is looking to follow in his elder brother’s footprint, to me he looks better than Kamran. Mohammed Aamer is another youngster who has been superb ever since he arrived in the international scene he is only 18. Looking at the current bowling attack of Pakistan they do look very dangerous with Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Aamer and of course Shahid Afridi.
When you are in the ground and looking forward to a great game of cricket in fantastic weather why do fans need to be violent, this is upacceptable and no one should do this? It is a shame for the game that these types of fans are allowed in the cricket stadium. One person doing this can give all fans the blame.
On the positive note the Australians took it very lightly and got on with the match. They are a good team as they showed it against England in their 5 match one day international series as they were beaten 3-0 in the first three then comfortably beat England in last two matches to make it 3-2. Australian captain Ricky Ponting has address his dissapointment in these two series but also have said that his main focus in retaining the Ashes back. It will be a fantastic series. I am already looking forward to it.
