Awesome Hank
Obviously the Real Estate market isn’t the same as it was in 2005 and 2006. Back then, homeowners and investors were purchasing homes for sale like crazy. During that time, the hot real estate market was a level playing field for brand new Real Estate agents and agents working part time to supplement their income. Almost a fanatical frenzy, I still remember that as fast as a Home For Sale sign was posted, it was taken right down again. I’m talking about the same day the sign was put up.
Just grasp the industries this helped. Not just the Real Estate brokers but mortgage financing companies as they supplied home loans to the buyers, sub-contractors and handymen who made additions and improvements on the properties before they were put on the sales market, any company focusing on mortgage leads for sale, home improvement stores, the local newspapers, gardening service companies and possibly quite a few others that I’ve failed to mention.
In today’s marketplace, the new consumer is canny, shops around for the smartest deal, stays close to his or her wallet, and isn’t necessarily solely determined to get the the best price. The new shopper is, at this time, the dictator of the market be it Real estate, where they purchase their groceries, to who cuts their lawn. The consumer of 2010 wants to understand what companies are prepared to do for them, they may want to know how long it will take, how the service will be provided, and why they should believe you. This will be the year of “just how high can you jump” and “what is it that you’ve done for me lately?” The buyers of today have the upper hand.
And, just because there are still families looking to buy a home, these potential home buyers won’t be swayed to take the first deal offered to them by a real estate sales person, they’re going to take the “most trusted” deal suggested to them. Our potential customers are vivaciously and aggressively searching the online services, even now to decide on the agent they feel comfortable with to help them.
And it doesn’t stop there, if the Real Estate Pro who eventually signs this potential homebuyer doesn’t make good on everything decided upon, this home buyer has no problem letting as many people hear about it through online review and complaint sites such as Yelp and other giant web sites.
Afraid? Don’t be. It’s going to be a bumpy, yet rewarding road for the RA in 2010 and the agents who are frank, are sharp enough to sell their own listings, and find as many sources as necessary to ensure their mortgage lead lists are full, and get new customers by using the best mortgage leads, online resources, and real estate agent tips, will be the ones who stand out and quite possibly set new standards for the industry. Be “that” person.
