2010 Wimbledon Winner

Rafael Nadal at the age of 24 has now won his 8th Grand Slams. There were lots of people doubting him winning a grand slam again after he suffered a major knee injury but he has come back and proved them wrong once again by winning French Open and Wimble in 5 weeks. The guy is just amazing. Millions of promotional merchandise were distributed after his triumph at Roland Garros and SW14 and if you recently been to Spain you will see these merchandises in every shops and home in Spain. It looks like it’s going to be a Spanish year but don’t count the Germans out.

This year Wimbledon started very competitively in SW14. In the first week of Wimbledon there were some great matches played. There were unseeded players giving the top seeds a lot of problems. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal both had tough 5 set matches in the first week. Remember that marathon match between two good players Mahut and Isner. They played the longest match in the history of Wimbledon which included the longest set in the history of tennis. Isner eventually beat Mahut 70-68 in the fifth set.

The weather also played it parts. There was no rain in Wimbledon this year, which has never happened since 1995. No rain in Wimbledon, really? Incredible isn’t it? 2 weeks of Wimbledon ended last sunday and there was a new champion from the name of Rafael Nadal who took over the crown won by Federer last year, it was a good final but Nadal was just superb and beat Berdych by 3 sets to 0.

Hence why all Spanish fans nowadays are wearing corporate clothing of Nadal and their national football team, and wishing Nadal all the best for US Open. I have also bought few promotional pens, which clearly identifies the winner of Roland Garros and SW14. I will giving these away to people I know who love tennis and Nadal.

Some people believe that this year’s Wimbledon was the best ever Wimbledon ever, what do you think?

Can Murray Win His First Grand Slam?

We saw some big upsets in Wimbledon this week. Roger Federer, the sixth times Wimbledon champion knocked out in the quarter finals by the Czech Tomas Berdych. Whereas world number one Rafael Nadal saw safely through to the semi-finals after beating the Swede Robin Soderling in four sets and will now face Britain’s Andy Murray. Rafa has been playing brilliantly so far and certainly is speeding through his games like a fast car. I reckon it is because of the trip he made to see some new cars but fast cars which recently arrived in the market. The boy does like fast cars, you can tell from his collections? You never know?

Most people feel that Nadal will take the title after Roger’s departure from the tournament. Roger has said that he had back problems coming into the tournament and wasn’t feeling his best. Even the bookies have made Nadal the favourite to get his second title. Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic might have something to say about that. You must not forget there are World number 3 and 4 still left in the draw with World number 1. Don’t listen to the bookies, on their day these playes can beat anyone. Berdych and Novak would be a great match as Berdych has shown that he can beat anyone on his day.

This year anyone of these four can win it so it is very hard to call. In the Women’s department Serena Williams is a clear favourite to win this year’s title.

All the Murray fans are hoping that Andy will come through with his first grand slam this year at Wimbledon but now he has to pass through Nadal to reach the final.

I am certainly taking the day off from my car reviews job that I do over the weekend to see these tough yet exciting matches. I nearly had an accident in my Audi A4 Saloon the other day when driving back from work, as I was listening to Andy’s match against Tsong and got a bit excited when he won the 3rd set and went 2-1 up. Now its getting nerve wracking and exciting at Wimbledon.

Who is your money on?
